Nateeo discovering international confectionery trends at ISM 2025

Nateeo recently participated in ISM 2025, the benchmark exhibition for the confectionery and snack industry, which took place in Cologne with the participation of over 1,500 exhibitors from 70 countries.

Despite global challenges, the confectionery industry continues to show strong optimism and a constant drive towards innovation. Forecasts by Innova Market Insights indicate that global chocolate sales will grow by 2% annually until 2027, confirming the industry’s resilience and ability to adapt to market changes and new consumer demands.

The entire supply chain, from agricultural production to distribution, is evolving to meet the growing expectations of consumers, who are increasingly sensitive to crucial issues such as sustainability, transparency and health. The event highlighted the most cutting-edge trends and innovative solutions that are shaping the future of the confectionery market:

  • Vegan alternatives to chocolate: innovative solutions based on fermented oats, soya and carob, responding to the growing demand for inclusive and conscious consumption.
  • Upcycling in chocolate: an innovative approach that makes use of the entire cocoa fruit, reducing waste and promoting greater sustainability throughout the production cycle.
  • Healthy, functional and ‘to-go’ snacks: products designed for quick and healthy consumption, with less sugar, fat and salt, but without compromising on taste. Sugar-free biscuits, low-calorie snacks and solutions enriched with protein, vitamins and minerals are conquering the market, meeting the needs of an increasingly hectic world.
  • Unique sensory experiences: consumers are increasingly attracted to products that combine creamy and crunchy textures, such as chocolate-covered pretzels or mulled wine-filled balls. Sweet-spicy combinations and sour notes are gaining ground among chocolate lovers.

ISM 2025 was an international stage for ideas and new perspectives, where the confectionery industry showcased its ability to adapt and innovate, responding to the needs of consumers who are increasingly aware, attentive and looking for sustainable and healthy solutions.
